Tien, Yamcha, and Chiaotzu met up with Krillin, Piccolo, and Gohan as the battle against the Saibamen was about to commence. Goku is still currently on Snake Way and trying to dart back to Earth as fast as he could. Yajirobe is being a big pig (eating too much food) while he's telling reporters about the story of the Saiyans and his friends to a bunch of reporters he encountered. This is all being broadcasted on TV and Yajirobe is exaggerating some of the story (e.g. he didn't train Goku). Tien faced the first Saibaman and defeated him with ease. Unfortunately, the Saibaman got up, but Vegeta stupidly shot an energy beam at it and it blew up. One down and five to go. Krillin was going to face the next one, but Yamcha selfishly stepped up and fought the next one. Yamcha won, but he was in for a rude awakening. Once again, Krillin wanted to step up and get Yamcha out of the way. The cocky person that he was, Yamcha exclaimed to the Saiyans that he could take on the other four at once. Bad idea. One of them jumped on Yamcha and self-destructed. Yamcha died, and now there were only three Saibamen left, five people remaining on the battlefield (excluding Nappa and Vegeta), and four people having yet to fight. Chi-Chi is extremely worried about Gohan and doesn't want him to die (she fainted twice). On the other hand, Bulma and Puar especially were crying about Yamcha's death. After this huge tragedy for the good guys, do they still have a chance to win, or will the Saiyans prevail.
