Inuyasha
Inuyasha is first seen when he is bound to a tree 50 years ago from an
arrow by Kikyo. He was released by Kagome, a girl from the future that
traveled back to feudal Japan through a mysterious well. Inuyasha
mistakes her for Kikyo, the woman who trapped him years ago. For real,
Kagome is a reincarnation of Kikyo. They eventually became friends.
Inuyasha originally wanted the Shikon Jewel for himself, to become a
full demon like his brother, Sesshomaru, but his primary goal (and the
goal of those who accompany him) is to prevent the shards of the Shikon
Jewel from falling into the hands of those who wish to abuse it's
powers.
Kagome
Kagome is a teenage girl, who lives in modern day Japan. She one day
discovered a mystical well. Being the reincarnation of Kikyo, inside of
her is the Shikon Jewel, which attracts a demon trapped in the well who
pulls her through to the other side into feudal Japan, where she meets
up with Inuyasha. She finds Inuyasha tied to the tree by Kikyo's magic,
and she frees him. He will help her escape the demon who is after her.
She eventually learns the truth about Kikyo and the events that have
taken place, mainly from Kaede (Kikyo's younger sister who looks a lot
older than her). She has more control over Inuyasha than anyone else,
since he develops feelings for her, and since Kaede put a magical
necklace around Inuyasha's neck, forcing him to fall to the ground when
Kagome says "sit"!
Miroku
Miroku is a wandering monk, and a huge pervert. For a human he is
extremely powerful, and his primary goal is to destroy Naraku. He uses
a magical staff, and his "Wind Tunnel". Many years ago, Naraku put a
curse on Miroku's family, which would create the "wind tunnel" in every
generations' right hand. This wind tunnel can be used to suck demons
into it, but over time it grows bigger, especially with heavy use.
Miroku became friends with Inuyasha and the others quite quickly, as
they share a common goal, which is to find the shards of the Shikon
Jewel, keep them out of the hands of evil, and destroy the demon Naraku
(and marry Sango).
Sango
Sango is a demon fighter of Taijiya Villiage. She uses a very large
boomerang type weapon, which can slice through demons with ease. Sango
is originally tricked by Naraku to try to destroy Inuyasha. She was
told that he was responsible for destroying her village. Sango
eventually comes to realize the truth, and helps Inuyasha and his
friends with their mission to collect the Shikon Jewel shards, and to
destroy Naraku.
Shippo
This pee-wee fox demon is first seen while trying to gather the shards
of the Shikon Jewel to avenge his father's death at the hands of the
Thunder Brothers. He is only a young boy, and a full demon. His powers
are very limited, and only involve illusions (shape shifting). He eventually joins up
with Inuyasha and the others in their quest.
